    Terrific advice for new pipe smokers. Cobs are great, cheap, lightweight and if you loose them, oh well. Also great advice on buying a briar for around $100. when you decide if you like pipe smoking. Some of the prices are outrageous and I really don't find they smoke any better. Jim

    Tight MM Cobbit stem

    I dropped my cob into the lake last summer. Didn't notice it went in and 1 week later my granddaughter found it on the bottom in 10 feet of water. The stem fell off after it dried out but a little gorilla glue and it's perfect. Missouri Mercham amazing pipes for $20.

    All these are made in China. That in itself is not a problem but I fear that some of the materials are not really "pipe" grade. They look OK but I'd stay away. Mine is now swimming with the fishes.

    New to the forum but not pipe smoking. I've been doing this for 60 years+ and only now am I learning about all the great tobaccos out there. I guess my Amphora brown will be taking a rest for a while. Thanks to everyone for the great information. Also thanks for the warm welcomes.
