    Pipe Wanted WTB/WTT Ferndown

Not to add insult to injury, but the last 2 pipes I bought from P2S were two Ferndown/Parks bulldogs, one straight and one 1/4 bent. I needed them to fill out my collection (still needing a bent billiard of all things). Les was just winding down his production at the time so I jumped immediately...

    Anybody here a Brigham man?

Yes, very much. Growing up in Canada, I smoked almost exclusively Brighams when I got old enough to afford them. I have a few nice ones, including a beautiful little straight grain 7-dot dublin that I bought when a friend closed his news and tobacco shop. Have bought quite a few estates as well...

First Christmas Pipe in a number of years....

Gotcha, and yes, I get that. Especially now that it is gone. I live in KC and the local tobacco shop had a direct line to McC, bulk was silly cheap back in the day and they kept the popular blends in big metal trash cans lined with plastic.

First Christmas Pipe in a number of years....

I have never found the ketchup smell to negatively affect the taste. It certainly affects the nose out of the tin but it became a friendly reminder that a great experience was about to happen. I have a bunch of jars of 5100/5105 blend that I put up maybe 10 years ago. I will dig them out and...

First Christmas Pipe in a number of years....

Probably because mine was open, probably for a number of years. I usually bought about half a dozen tins each year at Christmas, for maybe 8-10 years or so. Very few have been smoked so I have quite a stash to work through if I ever start up with the pipe again.

First Christmas Pipe in a number of years....

I was rummaging around and I found a part tin of Christmas Cheer from 2006. I had not smoked a pipe in at least 2-3 years so I decided to have a small bowl. First thing I noticed is the ketchup smell is all but gone, you really have to try and detect it. Packed 3 healthy pinches in a Ferndown...

    Cameroon wrapper advice

I really enjoy Cameroon wrapper cigars, recently the H. Upmann Vintage Cameroons. Problem is that the wrappers are very delicate and I find it hard to finish a cigar without the wrapper becoming a complete mess. Any advice on how to condition the cigar before smoking? Should they be drier or...

How many "Look Only" pipes do you own?

I can cross that one off my list. I enjoyed a couple of bowls of 2006 Christmas Cheer in it over the holidays. Of course, new pipe was not as satisfying as it could be but both pipe and tobacco were superb.

    I'm back

Hello as well. My neighbor is a pipe smoker as well so that makes at least 3 of us. He is more of a life-long Captain Black in a Grabow sort of guy though so he and I never have any really interesting pipe discussions.

What are your Pipe and Tobacco plans for 2021

Hoping to get my retirement wrapped up, city house sold and moved to my lake house where I can sit and enjoy my pipe whenever I damn well please. I have enough pipes, tobacco and cigars to carry me through likely the next decade.

    What movie are you watching?

Decided to do Tarantino over the holiday. My son can't believe it but I have never seen both of the Kill Bill movies so we are watching those tonight and tomorrow.

How many "Look Only" pipes do you own?

Thats a beauty. All my Ferdowns are blast finish, mostly Michael Parks rustication. My paneled billiard is a straight brindle shank, I don't have many saddle bit pipes for whatever reason.

This Poker thing is getting out of hand.

Very nice collection. I especially love cherrywoods, other pokers depending on the pipe.

    I'm back

Welcome back Rob. Pipe smoking must be in the air here in Missouri, I recently just re-acquainted myself with the BoB myself. Hunter (in Warsaw).

    Canning Your DIY Blends

I just use the 8oz jam-sized mason jars. They hold about 100gm of tobacco right on the money. Not sure how many I have stuck away in different places, mostly with the old favorite of McClelland 5100 red va plus 5105 stoved va. I really need to dig those out they are going on 10-15 years now.

    What do you drive?

Daily driver is a 2005 Suburban. I also have a 2004 Roadtrek Class B RV that I use for longer trips and someday soon getting away for longer excursions.

    What do you drive?

I had a 2002 Avalanche that thing was bulletproof. My son drove it to over 300K, then sold it to a guy who turned it into an off-road toy.

How many "Look Only" pipes do you own?

I have one Ferndown square shank panel billiard that has not yet been smoked. I concentrated on rounding out my Ferndown collection when Les started winding down his production, even though I have not been pipe smoking on a regular basis the past few years. A number have only been smoked once or...

How many "Look Only" pipes do you own?

Nice to hear about a fellow Brigham collector. I grew up in Canada and when I started pipe smoking seriously I concentrated on Brighams, the Canadian Dunhills. A friend owned a tobacco shop and I got a few nice pipes from him over the years. After moving to the USA back in the '90's, I continued...

    Ho, Ho, Ho!

Lucky wife and lucky you for having a wife who appreciates the finer things in life. PPK is an awesome little pistol, I have one in .380. I have thought about getting the .22 a few times but never yet pulled the trigger.
