This is a fantastic idea! In fact, today I took your advice and took the Kindle outside to read and smoke... AT THE SAME TIME. I've been wanting to do this forever, but hated having to, as someone else mentioned, "multitask".

Great idea that works great in practice, thanks!

Good to hear Foxfire.. I have to smoke outside now.. It's too cold to read and smoke.. So I just smoke and do chores.. Dreaming of warm weather some day..

I have never really thought about it, but apparently I always smoke a pipe when reading. Seems weird not to. Stranger yet, I prefer a cigar when watching a movie at home, even though I like the pipe far more than the stogie. The important thing is to keep your gizzard a-quiverin' with nicotine.

The old classics before 1927 are as a rule free to download and read and keep. I am reading the Life Of Abe Lincoln right now. Oh you never loose a page it bookmarks where you left off no matter how many books you read at a time. No page turning and if you wish it will play music of your choice using the MP3 Player while you read. Two joys in one... cheers

I (re)started smoking pipes again this past year specifically to accompany reading. I do other things too now like grilling, gardening, going for a walk or just thinking though. It's part of an effort to get away from the computer, TV, phones and family gossip. I've been programming for 8+ hours a day for 18 years. Ye ole eyes, hands and nerves need a rest.

If my significant other reads "50 Shades of Grey" in my presence, I've crafted a plan. Break out a Playboy (pre-purchased for the occasion) and read it casually. Preferably while puffing away on my pipe and peering down over reading glasses (purchased for the occasion. I don't need them quite yet). If I get a look of opposition, ask "what?" and go about opening the centerfold slowly. Puff twice and say "MmMmmmm... me likey likey".

Women should keep those kind of books under their side of the mattress or something.

On the contrary, it's a lot more fun when they share Wink

I was looking around a house last week owned by an attractive single lady and spotted 50 shades of Grey and its sequel on her bedside cabinet. For some reason I thought it'd be a good conversation piece to say to her 'Oh you like 50 shades, what are your favourite parts?'. I turned to her and was about to point to it and broach the subject when all the alarm bells rang in my head and STFU flashed across my mental landscape. I don't think getting escorted from the premises by law enforcement would've been a great way to end a house viewing.

Yeah, it's probably best that you heard the alarm bells ringing. As a pest control technician I'm in peoples house all the time and see things that I wish I didn't see.

Ahaha, isn't that just how most adult films start? Laughing
