The entire crew of 29 men died that night,
George J. Holl 60yrs old Chief Engineer was from Cabot, Pennsylvania, which is not more than 10 miles from my house

I remember. As a 20 yr Navy submariner, the line "Does anyone know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours" gives me chills every time I hear it!! Been there, done that, got the stained skivvies to prove it!

Grant mercy on their souls oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

There's a really good book, The Gales of November by Robert J Hemming, that tells the story of the Big Fitz as she was known. I highly recommend it.
