I picked up this "1847-1947 BBB Centenary" pipe a few weeks ago, it was finally delivered and restored.    I found exactly zero information about these pipes.

Here's the Reborn Pipes blog entry:
https://rebornpipes.com/2017/07/09/bbb-centenary-bullcap-restored/

I was worried the stem might have been a replacement, but with the pipe in hand, it was stamped on the opposite side with the BBB rhombus.  The nomenclature was outstanding, but the stamps on the stem made it a challenge.

The nomenclature:

And it had a push-fit stinger, which kept the inside of the shank quite clean!

And the rest.  At 25 grams, with a smaller bowl, it would be a great flake pipe.
The hand-cut button is really nice.

I have a thing for BBBs. Underappreciated and undervalued (fine by me!). One of the finest billiards I've ever seen was a BBB. How can a basic, non-eventful shape like a billiard be perfect? It was proportionally perfect in every single way, and it was a large, old, dense, incredibly light piece of wood. The stem was also perfectly in tune with everything about the shank. Perfect fit in the hand. Smoked like a one-of-a-kind, too. One of the 3-4 pipes I'm sorry I've traded over the years. I want it back.

The pipes has a striking resemblance to a pipe purchased from Herter's in the early 70's. If I recall correctly the pipe was made in England and stamped with the name HERTER"S. That was many years ago and the pipe was gifted to another fellow who was just starting to smoke a pipe. Just out of curiosity, how many folks recall the name Herter's?

As a kid growing up in the late 60's, early 70's, I spent hours window shopping the Herters catalog! A few years ago, I found one at an flea market. They did indeed sell everything, including tobacco pipes. I'm sure some English company made them, like Disney, etc. I still have my "Herters" brand fly-tying kit and box.
