Surely you jest. Only in the South, or due you mean to include the Southwest and the range states in the "rural southern USA". Mind you, you are almost all south of Canada.

But i think you will find that a similar story could be written around Stampede time in Calgary Alberta, maybe several stories on some years, and I remember an incident involving riding horses into the Toronto Royal York Hotel's lobby some years ago, and i wouldn't doubt that was done under the influence of a touch of Rye.

Speaking as a child of the south I can truthfully say that as long as the horse knows the way home it shouldn't matter if the rider is drunk! :joker:
