Long story short…my wife found a lump in her breast during a self exam & went to her doctor the next day. Her doctor confirmed that there was a lump and scheduled “immediate diagnostic imaging”. She told me that evening. I pretty much freaked out…in a quiet yet intense way. She went up to a local hospital within the week for further intensive mammogram and ultrasound exams. From the way the staff at her doctor’s and the hospital treated her she was sure there was something “not good” going on. They had that ‘I’m so very sorry’ demeanor. Then after the lengthy procedures the Radiologist (MD #1) and the Ultrasound Specialist (MD #2) came out together and sat down with her. She’s definitely freaking out by now…right? Then they drop the bomb…they didn’t find anything at all. Totally clean. No detectable lump no cyst no nothing. The little lump is still palpable but doesn’t show up as a mass on any imaging. So it’s not something that should cause any problem. They said to check back in in 6 months and to stay on her regular exam schedule.
