As some of you already know, Brian Levine interviewed Al Jones back on the 15th of September, for a very interesting and entertaining interview. Then on October 20th, highly respected pipe maker and BoB forum member Jesse Jones was also interviewed, in what turned out to be one of the best interviews in the history of the show.

I just got word today, that Brian will be interviewing another highly respected member of the BoB forums in the very near future.

I won't divulge the identity just yet, but the interview has already been scheduled. I will be sure to post up a link as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can whet your appetite by listening to some of the numerous previous episodes.

Ok guys and gals, the interview has been pre-recorded and is in editing and production now. It is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday January 26th.

I am really looking forward to this one, and I am glad that Kevin and Brian were eager to make it happen. 8)

One of the aspects I really like about the show, besides the interviews, are the episodes which Brian goes into detail about the collectability of certain brands of pipes. Details about which of them are the rarest, as well as the history of the company and how the companies got started, and how they evolved. Eventually most of them were bought out by Cadogan, but prior to that, the quality of most brands was on par with todays artisan grade pipes, IMO.

Even if a pipe smoker is not interested in collecting the collectible brands, it is interesting to learn about brands like Charatan, Barling's, Sasieni, Dunhill, W.O. Larsen, Comoy's, Kaywoodie, Peterson's, James Upshall, etc.

The production team is big on keeping the history of the hobby alive, and I as well as a lot of other folks think that is very important. Especially so, to future pipe and tobacciania hobbyist's and collectors.

Sure you can read a lot of details on Pipedia, but the show makes it so much more interesting and entertaining.
 
I'll look forward to Jesse's inteview. I download these via Podkicker and listen in the car and I look forward to each weekly update.
 
Thanks fellas. I'm one for listening to factual documentary programmes on the radio such as those provided by the BBC's World Service; the podcasts on there are second to none for a wider view of our world.

I stumbled across the Pipes Mag programmes by accident and have really enjoyed listening to a few of them, most notably Jesse's slot. I don't get to listen to folks talking about pipes so this part fills that hole.

Listened to this one last night and what a surprise it was our very own Brewdude!

Great interview Rande. What really came across to me was how talented you are across a range of fields and what an interesting life you've had. Well done mate. Very professional too.

Thanks for the kind words. By way of full disclosure, it was Chris (Dutch) that facilitated this.

After chatting with Chris one day on the dog and bone a while back ago, he felt my story about my brewing career and music would make great subject material for the podcast. Frankly I didn't feel like it was anything special, but agreed to let Chris put me in touch with Brian Levine.

I felt very comfortable with the interview process, and just related the same story I've told others in person for a great many years. I did skip over many details that might have made it harder to follow, knowing that it would be edited to fit the shows' timeline. It turns out that it wasn't edited at all!

I did make one goof when he asked me the website of the brewery and I answered fallsales.com (incorrect) but corrected it shortly after to fallsbrew.com. D'OH!!

I was also honored that Brian asked me to submit one of my tunes for inclusion at the end of the interview. So I sent him "Dark Black Night" which will appear on one of the next albums I'll be releasing.

Chris also sent me a link to the show which I could play without having to download a program to hear these. Up until then I had not had the chance to check out the show.

After I looked at all the well respected movers and shakers in the pipe world who appeared on prior podcasts I was humbled that Brian would want someone like me to participate in the august company there. I only hope I've done it justice.
