I just saw it. I am shocked to hear the news. We chatted recently and I was thinking he'd be around a while longer. I'm very saddened by the loss of a great friend. He always supported me. I will miss him greatly.

Speechless. Condolences to the family. His last post Tuesday evening.

Sad news, I know he was well loved by many in the general piping community.
He was, and will be for a long time. He was a great friend to me. Funny, witty with sharp insults, which he never meant. We used to get on the phone and insult, insult, insult, and laugh our lungs out. Wish I had recorded some of those calls. Harris could dish it out, and take it. He was very protective of his friends. He never hesitated to ask me for pipe tobacco advice or for a favor when he wanted one. And if I needed a favor or advice, he was always ready to help out. He was very smart, and we had a lot of intellectual conversations. Harris was one of a kind, and I'm glad I knew him.
