Rainer Barbi at one point declared that he always knew he had an extra-special pipe in the making if it smelled like baking bread when he drilled it.
This has become a little mythic at this point, but the trouble is, he was German. And if you've ever worked a trade with a German, they find nothing funnier than f-ing with people who don't know any better. Germans are the ones who will send you to the store for a can of compression. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :cheers: :twisted: :lol:
I'm absolutely convinced that Barbi was having one on, being a scheisser. How many times can you answer a question before you start having a little fun with the questioners?
I've had one block in about 500 now that I drilled and just threw out. It smelled like swamp.
I've drilled a few that had pink-ish juice inside, and this is very acidic tasting - poorly boiled wood. Might be okay in 10 years, but I doubt it.
