Why is it that some tobaccos taste better in a Cob ? such as Prince Albert, Cumberland etc.
 
Its the Burley...

I don't know why but Cob pipes and Burley just go together.

Kinda like wine and cheese, or hot dogs and chili. They compliment each other.
 
I think cob pipes inject a sweetness of their own to whatever you are smoking. That added flavor does seem to compliment burley's though.
 
Cobs and burley do seem to go together very well,but they smoke virginias equally as well. I think a lot has to do with the open draw and how the cob breathes.IMHO
 
On those occasions that I partake of a Burley or aromatic tobacco, I always use a cob/maple/cherry pipe. I have smoked Burley in my clays; they seem to "match' well also. FTRPLT
 
Burley in a cob (with strong black coffee) is one of my favorite morning smokes.
