I'm relatively new to McClelland's offerings and bought a handful of different mixs recently. I notice on the bottom of the tin there is a number, for instance I have a Oriental Mix #6 stamped with 060202. Is this a canning date (i.e. 2 June 2002 or 6 Feb 2002)? Hope so, I might have some nicely aged tins...

I believe that the stamped number is the canning date--my '07 Xmas Cheer stamp ends in an 07.

I would venture it's in American format (Month/Day/Year) as McClelland blends are made in the U.S.A. But that's a guess. If it's been cellared since 2002, the month probably doesn't matter quite as much.

According to a McClelland's representative their tins are stamped accordingly--

First 2 digits= product number
Second 2 digits= batch number
Last 2 digits= year tin was filled

Jim

Jim, I stand corrected, thanks. (If I'd just looked a little further back on the shelf, I would've seen that there's no such date as "31/14/02".)
