The old Ehrlich's in Boston sold a blend they called Broken Flake. I have a little left. I think it is a McClelland blend. Does anyone know which blend it was. It's a terrific Virginia and I'd like to get some in bulk if it was, indeed, a McClellan.

McClelland is infamous for their broken flakes. Can you describe the flavor profile, colour, etc? Can you be a bit more vague?

:?:

Mostly very dark (90-95%) with a few flecks of tan. Smooth and mild with just a little (not unpleasant) bite. Tin aroma, very "McClellan-y," wonderfully sour.

I CAN indeed be more vague, but I don't think that's what you were after.

Just had an email from Mary McNeil at McClelland. She thinks that Ehrlich's BROKEN FLAKE probably was their bulk #5115.
