Haven't been active in a few weeks due to some pipe making / knife making and other crafts; figured I'd share a little. First pipe was a commission for a brother here on bob and is on the way to him ; the second one is availble.  Commissioned is a wolfgang wasp inspired shape. Didn't pull it off exactly but it was my first time tackling a shape like that. Second one I am going for a light bing crosby-esque billiard with a long green cumberland stem.

Here is an axe I re-handled also just for fun:

Thanks for looking brothers! :D

Nice work Ian. That first pipe is very unique and I love the shank design & accent! And the green Cumberland stem on the billiard really sets it off. Well done bro!

I realy like classic shapes as i think a person who can get one done right knows their stuff !! And you're one knowledgeable craftsman!! I also like the green cumberland and your's is the first I've seen !! NICE, NICE !! And THAT'S one SERIOUS looking axe !!

Nicely done Ian. Very nice. Love the contrasts on the first rather unique looking piece and the billiard looks superb with its stem. Bravo!

Really nice work there buddy! Love that Bing billiard. That green Cumberland stem is just amazing!

The billiard looks perfectly shaped and I like the way the stem ads a little bit of color/flair to the classic shape. Both pipes look great, and that axe looks like it has some character to it too. Very nice.

Thanks guys , just got done buffing the billiard and will be putting some better pictures of it up. Glad you guys like the green Cumberland, really enjoyed working with it.

That billiard is sexy as heck. Very well done Brother!

That's a cracking billiard Ian.
I think you've got that nailed.
Only another 49 standard shapes to go :lol!:

A billiard is probably the hardest pipe to replicate/carve and I think you
hit it right on the head sir, not to mention your stem work looks impeccable.

Yes this. I am particularly impressed with the stem work.

Thanks guys I modeled my bit after the jones pipe I got for secret Santa. Helps when you have a masterpiece to model after. :D Not that mine is near his level.

I saw these on FB, but I'll comment here:

...billiards are simple yet hard as f*ck to turn out, and turn out right. If that's your first, holy crap, you're up-and-away talented. Ditto to the stem work.

Can I just give you my block stummels and have you carve them for me? No clue when I'm ever, if ever, gonna try my hand at pipe making again. (...I shouldn't say that...)

Thanks guys. Kyle these where both from predrill kits and were my 3rd and 4th hand cut stems. Lots of fun cutting stem but very time consuming. It's my second billiard attempt, a few months back I did the non traditional billiard with the plateau top.

Glad you guys like it, need to get a drill press soon and start drilling my own blocks and rods so I can cut down on my per pipe cost. :pirat:

Yeah, those are both really nice pipes, but the billiard is very impressive Ian!

I checked out the pics, before I took time to read the thread. I thought to myself, if he can carve out those 2 pipes with nothing but a long handled axe, I bet he could churn out a heck of a cigar indian!

Lol , now that would be a feat! I've watched those guys with the small chainsaws and old stumps make some seriously impressive carvings
