I was given a sample of GBD tobacco from the 1950s this past weekend which I'm planning to try shortly. It is still moist and has a cognac aroma. Does anyone know anything about this tobacco or if GBD had more than one blend?

The only reference I've seen to GBD tobacco was in one of Richard Carlton Hacker's books; all he wrote was that he had an old tin and was smoking it to the horror of a collector.

Yesterday I received Hacker's book, Rare Smoke, which has a photo of a GBD tin labeled "Original Mixture." The reference in the first post was to Hacker's Guide to 21st Century Pipesmoking (or whatever its' called) where he just mentioned smoking some of it without comment on the tobacco itself.
