Well, I'm not too keen on religion, to say the least, but speaking for myself, quotes from religious sources don't bother me. Quite the contrary; some are profound. But they have to stand on their own merits, not because of the source. No appeals to authority, in other words. Quote away, gentlemen. I suggest the King James for its language and poetry.

How about this one, which happens to have both a religious and secular interpretation? Or am I banned?

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"  ~ Mark, somewhere or other.

I heard Sting use that quote, to wit:

"You may ask, what does it profit a man
To gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?
Is that your body you see on the rocks below
As the tide begins to roll?"

“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

"They know you can't get people to stop smoking, so they develop a system of informants. That's the whole idea of second-hand smoke, you know. Make second-hand smoke dangerous and turn everybody against smokers. Then they say you can't even smoke in a bar -- a bar! -- because bartenders have a right to a smoke-free 'workspace.' Because I was not a Socialist.

Good quotes!

Felonious, my old friend
Step on in and let me shake your hand
So glad that you're here again for one more time
Let your madness run with mine
Streets still unseen, we'll find somehow
No time is better than now
