Has anyone tried growing their own tobacco?

Is the tobacco plant, in a general species sense, an invasive plant? Does it take over a garden or area of land? Or does it stick to the number of seeds you plant?

There's a wild version of it that grows here, but most folks use it as a pesticide, as it is very high in nicotine. I personally have not had 'volunteers' on a following year. Tomatoes are of the same family and they grow everywhere! But then I rarely let a tobacco plant go to seed.

I bought my first car with a tobacco crop in 1972. Yup, I've considered it and done it.
