"Used one quart (32 fl oz) of cold tap water (we got a whole half inch of snow on the ground...so it’s cold).
Timing done with my Seiko Automatic Samurai Dive Watch.
From pushing the on button to a solid boil...3 minutes, 30 seconds. Not bad."

That is very fast.

Do you all drink your tea or if a mug or a "proper" tea cup? When I was growing up my mom would always use "proper" tea cups because one of her friends was very English and that was the way she drank it so it rubbed off on all of us. Now when I think of using a mug or any thing other than a tea cup it just doesn't seem right lol. I have two sets of tea cups, one that my wife absolutely hates because they like "old people cups" lol, and an Alice in Wonderland set she bought me in Disney (more of a display set that is never displayed).

Funny story: Yesterday my wife was doing some “office work” from home and decided to make herself a single mug of her favored tea of the moment...Bigelow Decaf Earl Grey. She got it all brewed up and decided to add a squiggle of honey, so she reached into the cupboard and pulled down the little plastic honey container. She got everything stirred up and put away and sat back down to work...taking a big slug of her tea, now at the perfect temperature. Her eyes suddenly got this WTF look and she looked at her mug with horror. Checking, she realized she had used the Mike’s Hot Honey instead of the Sage Honey. Oh my. So...HOT Earl Grey...a new taste sensation! I sampled it and found it to be...very interesting.

I usually buy my tea in a specialised shop in the city when I go there. It's always in bulk, I don't really know the brand, but my usual ones are the Oolong milky way he sells and a fantastic Lapsang Souchon, in green tea I usually take a variety that has matcha and in red I have a few pounds that a friend brought me from China, fantastic, I don't know its name, it's all in Chinese.

To make it my kettle with temperature regulation.

Gus - are you in Spain? Your Amazon site is a but different than mine.

DLR - totally awesome. Unbirthday presents are the BEST! I get something for my wife (of 40 years) every once in a while and the reactions are very rewarding. I think it’s the unexpected-ness. Fun stuff...one of the things that makes life worthwhile.

Brown 2 cup. Almost got the 4 cup but my wife only occasionally has tea so I thought the 2 cup would be plenty big enough for me. This is supposed to be one of the authentic ones from Cauldron in England. Not going to be here at least until 2/9.

Some routinely use tea glasses. I use 3.5 inch high or 5 inch high 8oz glasses without handles or holders.

Two excellent online vendors.
Mark T. Wendell and Grace Tea Company
Give TEADOGS a shot. Great selection...if you’re looking for UK teas...England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales. Excellent prices...guaranteed freshness date always noted...teas are from the UK, etc. not those that are reformulated for the USA market. Excellent outfit.

And, yes...Upton is arguably the best tea resource in the USA. Amazing variety of premium blends & single estate teas. NEVER had an order be anything but perfect.

Now let's be honest! I find tea brewed per the instructions on the tins is usually too weak for my taste, but brewed to the strength I like, it's a powerful diuretic. Am I the only one here effected by tea in that manner?

Hell, yes. I like it strong to hold up to a bit of cream and honey!! My English family makes their tea/s this way; learned it from them!! And, yes, after drinking a few mugs of tea...I go wee, wee, wee all the way home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FTRPLT

I mentioned the other day that I had ordered a Brown Betty 2 cup teapot for use in brewing my morning and afternoon teas. Came today. Must say I am impressed. Will give in a run tomorrow morning with some Darjeeling.
