I'm saving my money for tobacco? <img class="emojione" alt="?" title="" src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/emojione/assets/png/1f937.png?v=2.2.7"/>

I've never needed more than a pair of scissors and/or my own two hands. Flakes are a joy, never a pain.

We all know how much of a PITA flakes can be, so I read on another forum that an Herb Grinder is great for rubbing out flakes, Something like this,
http://www.amazon.com/NEW-STYLE-Tobacco-Pollen-Grinder/dp/B0023X32MA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1366051099&sr=8-1&keywords=herb+grinder

Sure we could use our palms, but I would imagine this doing a better and more efficient job.

Has anyone tried this or has a comment?
It's what I use on 1792 and Cob plug. Works a treat for me. I posted about it on T&P and on Hobo Pipes. I learned about it from a youtube vid.

Oh Maan! More STUFF to add to the "ritual" of smoking! Anyone ever heard of the principle of K.I.S.S. ?

Let me put it this way. For me 1792, Cob Plug and sometimes, Bracken Flake are almost fireproof. None of the other methods of prepping it worked for me with these three.
This method works a treat. Smokes to the bottom easily with very few re-lights. Just don't go overboard. You don't want powder or pellets. You want to end up with what looks
like the old PA crimp cut. My grinder hasn't produced anything other than a good smokable product. If it works, it works. If it don't work, it don't work. This works. It don't get no simpler.
Don't forget what the last letter of KISS stands for. I would only be stupid if I didn't use a method that works for me after all the others have failed, including coffee grinders.

I can't say how well it works with other flakes. I see no need to resort to this since the other flakes burn so well for me.

Besides the which I already had the grinder from my younger days. :flower:

I handed out a bunch of grinders at my pipe club's monthly meeting. The fellas seem to like them for the plugs and flakes.........

I keep one in my "Pipe Go Bag" just in case.

$13..
works like a champ.

I have a grinder like the one you have mentioned, only problem is you can only grind a small amount at a time. I am going to get a Coffee Bean Grinder, as it will hold more tobacco. The small hand grinders are great to put in a travel bag, glove department, and of course your tobacco pouch. At home I want the bigger beast.

Hey, if it works, great, but personally I haven't found a need for anything more than these:

The intended herb is the one associated with rolling papers. The mention of KISS is right on. I smoke mostly slices and have never seen an urge to change the second most enjoyable use of my hands.

This ain't rocket science or mellowing with a dooby. We aren't looking for the fineness of cigarette tobacco and we are doing it with a product that easy separates as opposed to a big bud with a stem.

Probably the only stretching exercise or such a guy get over his closed fist norm.

Rubbing a flake in the cupped palm of my hand has never presented any problems for me. If it ain't broke....
