Good point.

Let's just say if it C&D were making cars, wherein they have metal, machines, rivets, screws, all the things necessary.   Greg comes along and says, "Hey, I know how to make cars, care if I use your place/materials/etc, pay for it, and try it out?"   C&D is good enough to say, "Sure, dude, go for it..." and lo, Greg adds only engineering and approach to the mix.   Of course, a different sort of vehicle is gonna happen.   It becomes mutually-beneficial to all, and there you have it.

I have a feeling C&D's R&D team is perhaps a mishmash of folks and ideas, some are good, some aren't, some are thrown together, others, not so much.   I hear nothing but good about the family dynamic and close-knit workings of C&D from many sources, so they have heart...that's a good thing.  Perhaps some of us just like better what Greg does with his tools and palate.   Then again, some people hate GLP stuff.   <img class="emojione" alt="?" title="" src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/emojione/assets/png/1f937.png?v=2.2.7"/>

Takes all kinds.

It was foolish of me to think, "Same leaf, same satisfaction."   But, same leaf has to produce at least some kind of similar results, given GLP and C&D are doing their thing with the same stuff.   One thing is clear:  I love whatever source the two use for Latakia.  In the wake of The Great Latakia Fire of 2002 (I think that's when it was) when all they Syrian was destroyed, they made up for it by getting Cyprian that knocks my socks off.   I don't think I'll miss Syrian when it disappears completely at this point--I've become so keen to C&D's Cyprian.

There's probably a C&D-level VA I like, I just haven't discovered it yet.   If I don't, I'm not at a loss--Greg makes sure of that.

I thought Greg bought some of his own tobacco, stored at C&D, for his own blends, and used some of C&D's tobaccos where he wanted to. So, C&D blends and GL Pease blends would share some, but not necessarily all, of the same base tobaccos.

Could be. My understanding of it all is interpretive, rather than based on fact. I hear/read things, but perhaps not everything.

I still think he uses their Latakia, though...tastes awfully similar. To my delight.

Greg? Care to chime in? (he's been rather busy lately...)
