Hello all. I am new to this form and am looking to you all for your collective expertise and knowledge. I recently inherited all my father's pipes including one of each GBD, Kriswell, Jeantet, Falcon, Ben Wade and 7 pipes made by S.M. Vottis. I have been able to find a wealth of information about all the pipes except the S.M. Vottis. The only information I have been able to find on S.M. Vottis that he was a pipe maker in up state NY which is where my father used to live. Any information about the pipe maker would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, my father's memory is failing so he cannot recall any information. He has not used his pipes in over 35 years. I currently have four of the pipes out to Precision Pipe Repair and am anxiously waiting to get my paws on the revitalized beauties.

Cheers
Joshua

I think that the information you are looking for is in the following link: http://www.jbriarpipes.com/blog/2014/12/10/the-rise-and-fall-of-a-historic-local-landmark-paying-homage-to-the-vottis-pipe-shop found on the J Briar Pipes site.  Pat (Pasquale) Vottis and his brother S. (Salvatore) Vottis had a pipe shop in Schenectady NY.  The article referenced contains information about the Vottis Pipe Shop.  A second link found on the page directs you to an Albany Times-Union article (archived) (http://alb.merlinone.net/mweb/wmsql.wm.request?oneimage&imageid=5580379) that contains more info.  Happy reading!  I enjoyed finding these articles and reading them.  I have lived within 50 miles of Albany NY most of my life and never knew about Vottis pipes.
