The upper left ( BIG black lighter ) is ONLY used for lighting a cigar. It's an adjustable Torch lighter ( can melt solder ) that was gifted to me by a dear friend from Long Island before moving down South. Sadly " Johnny Fish " is no longer with us. He was ill when I was preparing to move and did not want to burden me at the time. I was devastated the day his wife and son called me.... :(   :(  His last name was not Fish, it's a nickname I gave him many moons ago. Boy did we FISH ? often back in the day. The Corona Old Boy pictured was recently gifted to me by two members of this board, I was SHOCKED to say the least. It's the lighter I use mostly now. Works flawlessly and with the proper fuel it lights every time...  One I've already met in person and hopefully one day I will have the pleasure of meeting the other, their generosity was overwhelming!!
I have a few stories with some other lighters shown, but some are memories I still keep within my ❤️ heart forever ❤️. Was the love of my LIFE.

Just found where I placed these two lighters, never used and I purchased new back in the 70's. The old silver case I purchased in Paris back in the late 80's. It's an old match box cover from the 30's I was told, in excellent condition.

WELL, I guess everyone else uses some other way to light their pipes

Matches. I always use matches. Never found a lighter that I liked.
Yep. I do not get along with gas lighters, nor do I even want to. I use a Zippo in the car because it's one-handed. And I like the sound of the closing click. Otherwise, wooden matches--for both pipes and cigars.

Wooden matches never quite worked well ( unless indoors ) for me in the wind, I must be doing something wrong   Should I be stuffing my head inside my shirt or jacket outside and light up :fpalm: :fpalm:

I get it now. I almost never smoke outdoors. Ergo, matches it be. And lighters for the outdoor smokers.

That's about right, but when I can, I still try matches before going for the Zippo

Matches when at home, Dunhill Unique w/pipe attachment. Works for me !!

Can't post pics right now as everything is boxed up for the move but yeah I only use lighters. It's way to windy here to ever use matches. My personal favorites are my Nimrods. 2 of the Admirals and 1 sportsmans model. Love, love, love them. I've got many zippo's including a counterfeit one that came from Russia. Of all the cheap things to counterfeit. Only way I found out was by sending it in for service. Quite a few of the old table lighters from the 60's and 70's as well as a smattering of the old promotional cigarette lighters from the 60's and 70's.

Pics as soon as I can get them unpacked. Promise.

Jim

What an awesome collection of lighters.

I can't seem to post pics anymore but I employ a matte black Kiribi Kabuto and one chrome Zippo. I mostly use Diamond strike anywhere kitchen matches.

I wanna play too!!!!!  These are just sitting on my shelf.  I have about 75 more upstairs, I'd have to dig in the hope chest though to get them

The big one never gets used as it does take a whole tall bottle of fluid. It's fun though lol

See, that's it! I need to find one of those, make a humongous pipe with a 24 inch long stem and my hobbit costume would be complete! :geek:

One of my Zippo handwarmers. You light it, put the cap on drop it in its pouch and have it in your coat pocket to take out and warm your hands
