I'm a big Marty Stuart fan. I'd love to see him with the Superlatives. He used to have an XM radio show, highlighting various cities around the US, it was great and he has a very good sense of humor.
 
I happened to catch the NPR show they did when this cd came out.
 
I love Marty Stuart. He's got deep roots in "classic country", but much of his music thinks outside the box, which is what makes it so interesting. It isn't just the same old progressions and sounds.

And I love that video. It holds special meaning for me because of what happens starting at 15:16, and thereafter...all the stuff about The Byrds and Clarence White.

The Byrds were the catalyst for me. Before I heard them, I was a percussionist in the high school band. Then, in May 1965, I heard Mr. Tambourine Man on the radio, and it was a revelation. "Holy sh!t!! What is that?!?!" Nothing else ever sounded like that before. Between McGuinn's 12-string and the soaring vocal melange of Clark, McGuinn, and Crosby, I was hooked. Everything changed. I bought a drum set. I started a band. Then I bought a 12-string...

Anyhow, I was a fervent Byrdophile. Then I learned that the awesome country twangin' on Time Between and The Girl With No Name (Chris Hillman's tunes on the Younger Than Yesterday album) was played by Clarence White, who also played on Notorious Byrd Brothers and Sweetheart of the Rodeo, after which he became a permanent Byrd.

Clarence is the reason I switched from Guild, Rickenbacker, and Gretsch guitars and bought my first Telecaster. It didn't have a B-string bender (...yet; that's another story).

And speaking of the B-string bender and Clarence's guitar (which Marty is playing in the solo I've linked above), that's a story worthy of a separate post.

Back when I was in grade school, I used to wake up early and watch some music shows. Marty's show was amongst them. Great memories. When country wasn't just so much horrible recycled pop.

The fact that he begged Susie to take more money speaks volumes about his character. The fact that she wouldn't take more speaks volumes about hers.

Obviously, the most important consideration was that the guitar go to someone who would treat it with the respect she felt it deserves. I'd say it was mission accomplished.  :mrgreen:

And of course I was thinking of Marty Robbins. Ignore the early onset dementia dude.
 
Marty has/had a show on rfd tv. I haven’t had the channel in a couple of years. It’s a really good show. On Saturday afternoons they would show the porter Wagner show then the Marty Stewart show. My wife hated both shows with a passion. So I would turn them just to mess with her. But she does the same thing with the ID channel, hgtv, hallmark and some other channels I can’t stand to watch anything that’s even on them.
