Hope all you guys have a great day tomorrow. Remembering the fallen heroes of our nation is important. Try and take a moment to do so tomorrow amidst the barbecue and brewskis. Our country’s longstanding fight against tyranny and evil in this world is part of what makes our nation the greatest on earth. A large percentage of our youth have no concept of this, which is sad.

Personally, members of my family fought on four continents. Against the various crowns, native nations and our rebellious southern brethren at home. Then against communists, socialists, fascists and terrorists abroad. I make a point to tell the younger generation of my family about it. All the beauty and plenty we have in our lives was bought with the lives of our countrymen.

Well said brother. Amen!

Sorry if it comes off preachy. I’ve been helping out with what’s called JR church lately. It’s for 4th to 7th graders, Sunday the topic came up with the kids. The kids from the school at our church knew what Memorial Day is. Of the public school kids, only one!

They get the day off and don’t know why. It’s sad, bc a good number them have relatives in active service.

Not of their fault or making, though. This reminds me of something. I don't think Americans realize --because they aren't taught from such a perspective, and perspective is key-- that The Constitution is basically a human rights document. It's the prime reason most of the rest of the world looks up to us and looks to us for leadership and guidance. We're a country founded on human rights. It's not about the superiority of capitalism or virtues of materialism. Not about flags or symbolism. Human rights at the core, and everything else emanates from them. Without them, you quickly end up at those things you mentioned, like tyranny etc.
