My mother died when I was nine-years-old. I didn't celebrate Mother's Day until my daughters were born. This Sunday, I'll honor my younger daughter who has three young kids. She was named after my mother. I pondered what kind of present she would like. Both she and I have always preferred a personal note over any purchased gift.
Yesterday morning, she dropped her 4.5 year old son at my house on her way to work. He has no pre-kindergarten on Wednesday. My daughter, who towers over me, gave me a wonderful hug and kiss and I noticed she was wearing cologne.

My mother only wore Chantilly by Houbigant, long out of production. (My mother died in the early 1950s) For just a sentimental reason, I've purchased several vintage bottles of Houbigant Chantilly Parfum and cologne on Ebay. On Sunday, with a personal note, my daughter will get a bottle of Chantilly. I think we'll both cry.
