I'd blended this sans Izmir and it just didn't taste right, so I gradually added the Izmir until it just seemed correct as a Balkan blend. More folks must be doing some blending because I had to shop around the internet to get all the components. Now, I think this blend has to rest for at least a few weeks.

A bit of a confession....I began the blending process with 16 oz. of latakia and a goal of 40% latakia, which meant my final pot o'Balkan would be 40 oz. of tobacco. It made it easy in ordering component quantities as 4 oz. or 2 oz. but it also meant that I could come up with a 2.5 lb. dud. I've smoked three bowls and I do really like it, even though three of the components were quite wet when they arrived.

I should have noted that Sutliff 515 RC-1 is "Matured Red Virginia", Sutliff's attempt to replicate McClelland 5100 Red Cake.
