OK; I have a confession to make. I was at work and didn't have a pic of my mandolin on my computer. I googled it, and the first one I clicked on was a dead ringer for mine, so I stole it. Here's the real deal...
and you're right: the tone is very warm, very woody, and very rich, especially for an instrument that was most basic model available at the time. Short on ornamentation but really long on sound.
