For all those who would like to smooth out or enlarge the draft hole in the stem, particularly if re-shaping the slot at the bit, I've come up with a fairly convenient method I thought I'd share. Abrasive cord is the answer. The prime maker of such stuff is Mitchel's abrasives. It's essentially cord impregnated with abrasive compound,and comes in various diameters and grits. I find the .050 dia. and 150 grit works great. however, when running it back and forth, to avoid elongating the hole in the tenon, wrap the cord with scotch tape in that area. Amazon sells the product, as do most industrial supply places.
