After watching the program, it is amazing how when confronted with necessity, ingenuity sets in.

Steam rail engines into electric.

Underground routes.

This is over 100 years ago.

How come we are just getting hybrid cars now?

It almost shouts out that there must be the technology that would make us less dependent on oil.

Wouldn't that be revoluntionary?

The technology is here. The oil companies and the big three auto makers are fighting it tooth and nail here in America. many South American countries, but mostly Brazil are totally energy independent. The auto makers have a whole sub market there for 100% bio fuel vehicles. the auto makers are in bed with the oil companies and don't want to promote these alternative vehicles at the same level that they do in South America. Until the mind set changes in the United States we will be hostage to the oil companies and auto makers. There is even the technology to efficiently operate a vehicle on hydro power. The patent has been bought out and shelved by someone in the current auto industry.
