September's meeting will be quite early to make room for the Pope's visit - it will be the second Thursday, the 10th. I mixed up the timing of the Russ Ouellette's visit, but Monday at the Lehigh Valley PC meeting, he confirmed that he will be visiting us on the 10th. He and Dan Z. Johnsonwill bring the pre-production samples of War Horse Loose Cut, Bengal Slices and the three John Cotton's No.1 Mild, Nos. 1 & 2 Medium and Smyrna. All of these are spectacularly superb, reflecting the due diligence and lengthy and robust development cycles. It has been an amazing treat to have been along for the ride starting with the initial sake-inspired notion in Dan's and Simon's febrile minds.
Rumor has it that founder Bob Page is bringing some of his pipes that need new homes and fresh loads of tobacco. The venue is the same Pen & Pencil Club, on Latimer St. downtown between 15th and 16th Sts. Cooked to order meals and sandwiches, a well stocked bar served by pipe smoking wench Courtney and loads of tobacco and conversation await the guests.
