Following Yak's excellent article. Watching the news this AM. The media were extolling the virtues of the many cameras that were involved in surveillance of the public in the area of the Boston terrorist attack. I'm sure that they don't want to use the word 'surveillance' but would rather use 'public safety' so we don't start to think of military drones over our amber waves of grain.
Went over the cost & quality per camera, etc. and how helpful they've been in tracking down criminals. Wait till Bloomberg levies a 'public safety tax' for surveillance cameras to augment the citizens right to safety, privacy be damned!
If any of our British brethren care to comment on cameras/police/government surveillance in their "Nanny State" please do!
