As a further explanation of my "rotation."

Each rotation consists of the oldest tin of each blend. A replacement tin is immediately added. You can see how this sytem provides progressively aged tobacco for everyday consumption.

My 08 rotation will be "pulled" from the cellar in about two months. ALL replacement tins for the 08 rotation are already in place.

Additions this year? Ten tins of Maltese Falcon ( on the way here), ten of Maduro Cut Cake (when produced), ten of Nocturne (when produced) and anything else that I may deem necessary.

I also plan to give a lot of stuff away during the year, so be nice to me.

Wow!!A cellar to be proud of-I'm not sure the local B&M here is that well stocked!Happy smoking, friend!
Tony

I know none of the B&M's around my area have that kind of inventory.

So organized also.
I e-mailed Jason my inventory lists and he formatted it to LOOK organized and pasted it all here.

Thanks Jason.

Do we need to put TJ on the 'Down on your luck' list so the man dont run outta weed?

TJ, it is hard to know what to be more impressed by - your impeccable and astute taste in tobaccos or your redoubtable inventorying and cataloging skills.

Yours is a cellar to dream of.

It's really just superb.

tj,

That's a nice "wee" collection that you have there.

Congrats,

:D Paul
Paul,,,,,,,,,,,it's not a "we" collection, it's a "my" collection.

Damned :elephant: 's are always looking for handouts.

Enjoy the S-Bowl.

Drink lots of :rendeer: head.

Well, once again more proof that this group will not have to worry about a lack of tobacco if it ever is not available on the open market!

It's not easy being green,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Kermit.

Indeed, a very well organized cellar and well stocked, congrats on a job well done.

TJ - Forgive a question from a novice here. I notice that only a few tins come with an actual manufacturers date stamp. For the rest, do you just date them from the date of acquisition? It seems to me that in some of the more out of the way tobacconists things have already potentially been on the shelves for years. I suppose there is no way of knowing if the tins aren't stamped.

Wet Dottle,

Didn't mean to ignore you.

I haven't had access to a b&m for about 30 years. Everything I have cellared has been bought on line and should be relatively new stuff. Everything is dated with the acquisition date. I just started doing it about five years ago and got into the habit with each purchase so it really wasn't much of a project. If something is obtained in trade from a member here and has a date on it, then I go by that date. I keep everything seperated by blends. Every year or so I will "pull" one tin of each blend and constitute a "rotation." I just trudge through them one at time after taking them out of the "cellar" and seperating them. As I "pull" a rotation, I validate my inventory list. Takes about two hours every year or so. I then systematically replace the pulled tins in order to maintain the aging process. I pull the oldest tin of each blend for a rotation. If a new blend is tried and liked, I will buy 10 or so tins and add them to the cellar. If something is opened that I do not like, only rarely, I'll trade away the entire inventory of it. This has only happened twice that I can remember. Both times it was aged virginias that just sweetened up too much. I am a type "A" "OCD" person, probably the most advanced case here. "Stuff" is aging much faster than I can smoke it. On the bright side, I have never been afflicted with pad. I only have 19 pipes. Of course, they are in a systematic anal rotation too.

Like everyone else here, "it" just happened. Woke up one day and it all appeared out of the blue.

The BEST to you. Welcome aboard.
