I ran a search and didn't find anything on this.
Does anyone know a tobacco farmer?
Or someplace to buy a few pounds of leaf?
I've tried to google this subject and had no luck.
I know McClelland and a few other retailers sell blending tobacco,
but I'm looking for a farm or grower's co-op type of seller.
Maybe a group buy, or almost anything.
I'm thinking it's time to cut the government out of as much of my tax dollars
as possible.

Here is a link that I found when I was searching for the same thing. If you can get through then let us know:

Here is another place you might try:

It seems that Native Americans are the only ones still growing truly pure tobacco, for ceremonial purposes.
If you feel like it you can grow your own, here is a place with seeds and counsel in growing & processing:

Hope something here helps.

You can grow it. I have actually noticed people around here starting to grow it as an ornamental plant. It is a beautiful plant when it is in bloom.

The blooms are gorgeous, but if you grow for leaf break the flowers off - called "topping" the plant.

Where do you live? You can find plenty of tobacco farmers driving around in some of the rural areas here in NC (though I have no idea how one goes about asking to buy some from the farmer).

Same for Kentucky and Tennessee. Also do a search for "organic tobacco". That should turn up some growers and sources. I recall the fellow that produces C&D's new blend "Organic Pipe Dreams" has a number of sources too. Sorry I can't recall his name though.

Thanks so much, guys.
I've found a couple places thanks to your recomendations.
I live in northern Nevada so no tobacco growers around here.
I used to drive truck cross country and have seen tobacco fields but never
stopped to inquire.
I have plans to really take this up, as well as cigar rolling, when I retire
in just a few years. Going to dip my toe in the water in the meantime.
