"The Pioneers" by David McCullough.
A study of the settlement of the western expansion into the Ohio area in the 1780's.
A place I know little about.
Big fan of his writing. His work is always well researched.
His book, "The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris" on the emergence of great American artists in France and "Mornings on Horseback" about Teddy Roosevelt are just wonderful.

One of the most prolific and beloved writers in SciFi & Fantasy, another installment in the human/demon relationship and continuing adventures of a magician and his resident demon. Any new publication by Bujold is instantly pounced upon be her legion of hungry fans.
