Capstan Original Navy Cut in a Soren freehand - all cozily cubed up and considerably more dry than I usually smoke - and it tastes gooooood! Must start experimenting with drier tobacco.

Louisiana Red in a 2003 Peterson Sherlock Holmes Series Baskerville.

Having my first bowl of CD Exhausted Rooster (courtesy of a trade w/Natch) in a Nording Viking.

I don't usually post about a blend until I've had at least an ounce or two, but after half a bowl of Exhausted Rooster this is already some really, really good stuff!

Stonehaven in a smooth 2002 medium bend flame grain Rinaldo Collection Silver Line 10 Egea 03 Titania.

...final pipe of the evening...G&H Dark Plug in a Dunhill Cumberland Lovat...

1947 Sir Walter Raleigh, is this a blend or truly a 1947 tin?

My smoke for the night Rattray's Red Rapparee in a Savinelli 704 dark sandblasted.

It was SWR from 1947. A generous friend scored an unopened tin and was kind enough to share a small sample with me. In fact, I'm smoking the very last of my sample now in a medium bend beater 1979 Aalborg natural freehand made by Nording. I sure enjoyed it! It was very flavorful and rich in taste. I'd say it was a purer smoke than the current version, which I also like. He also had ERR from 1945, a sample of which I finished a few days ago. Hard to believe this stuff existed until now. Wish I had more, but to even get a sample was a treat I'll not soon forget.

The last of the McClelland Navy Cavendish in a mid-70s slight bend black sandblasted English Rustic 120 billiard. It was just enough for half a bowl. Very tasty stuff.

Germain's Plum Cake in a 1978 smooth three quarter bend Danish Special.

Just lit my first bowl of the day. Starting out with some of "Don's Blend" ( Dunhill Flake) in one of my "...missdrilled, golf club" Charatan Special pots. These big wide bowls just make flakes SING :p

GH Bob's Chocolate Flake in an old MM churchwarden. A great combination. :)

J. Fox Sheans Blend in a straight 1979 MM Legend.

The current tinned version of Three Nuns in a straight black sandblast 2 star Ferndown Bark Prince with a Cumberland stem.

...busy morning and noon time...Skandinavik Full Aroma...followed by...SG Grouse-moor Mixture...now, Player's Navy Flake in an old Ben Wade bent pot...

...up next...Gauntley's Spice Turk...

Life of a pipe smoker is a journey, not a destination…

My third bowl today, second one of Royal Yacht, this one in my Dunhill's a Shell finished Lovat. I'm begining to understand why Simenon smoked this exclusivly

Solani 127 in a 1974 smooth straight French briar Hadley Apple.
