i have been using a glass hinge-lidded jar i bought at my local tobbaccanist and i find it only keeps my baccy fresh for about three to four days. usually i will keep my tins closed but that seems to dry out the baccy after a couple of weeks. any recomendations?

I'll second the suggestion of Mason jars. You can buy a box of a dozen for about $8. They seal completely, keeping tobacco fresh. About the best bargain you can find in the pipe world.

Here is an alternative that works for me. I use a large clear cannister with a good seal on the lid to keep misc. open tins or baggies of tobacco in. I use one for VAs and one for English/Balkan.

Mind you, I don't keep my favorites like that, Mostly trades and samples. I just think that it adds another level of protection over just the lids. It certainly extends the tin duration to months.

My good blends to straight to small glass candy jars.
