think I want to trya cherry.

Drew Estate Heirloom Cherry is the only cherry tobacco I've found that I enjoy. Not goopy at all, and more importantly the flavor is not overdone. You can taste the cherry but also the underlying tobacco. It is one of the few aromatic tobaccos I buy.

wonderful pipe lounge near Myrtle Beach, SC

After a few years of trying to find time on vacation to visit I got to hang out there on Black Friday. No contest the best store I was in that day. Very friendly guy at the register suggested I fill a bowl from their selection, before I even got 10 feet in to the place. Really nice smoking area...

So, has anyone tried any of the new C&D releases?

I wouldn't say the one I tried is high nic or extra full bodied. I would say it's more a deepening and melding of flavor with time. My concern with Joie is most places I've read that Latakia doesn't age well, that the flavor/scent lessens. Don't know that I fully believe that. Recently I found a...

    NASPC '14 show

I'll be there. At Smokers Haven Friday and the big show on Saturday. Since I live in Columbus, I wouldn't miss this for the world. Last year was my first year for both events. I had so much fun and met so many super people they are now a annual tradition for me.

So, has anyone tried any of the new C&D releases?

I bought a tin of Joie De Vivre from my favorite local B&M. Not a bad blend, but I can see where age would help it. It had some, for lack of a better term, sharp edges. Slightly acidic, it needs time to mellow. I jarred the remainder of the tin and will revisit in a few months. The flavors all...

    Ohio Smoking Ban

This is not only happening in Ohio. It's just not reported in the normal media outlets often. It seems a few EU countries are having similar problems. I'm a bit past my bar going days, but the 3 bars I've been in since the ban all ignored it.

    Help dateing a GBD

Mine just says "London England" in a line above the model number. The GBD oval is definitely inlaid. I looked at that site, but the model number wasn't listed. I'll have to dig around some more.

    Help dateing a GBD

A friend passed two of his father's pipes to me. One is a large GBD Rockroot, Collector, marked London, model number 9627 or maybe 9827 the second number is stamped lightly and hard to tell for sure. It's a octagon shaped panel. I don't care what it's worth, as it has value well beyond price...

how to choose tobacco for new puffers?

My advice would be buy some small amounts of bulk blends form your B&M. A good one should have various representative types and know what they are. Once you identify the types you like then you can spend the money for tinned versions that are similar. Smoking through an ounce of tobacco you...

Making pipe tobacco from a cigar?

Just a random thought... besides flavor what is the difference between a round sliced flake and a sliced cigar? Or would it be possible to slice a cigar and smoke it in my pipe? A long day and halfway through my first bowl add up to strange thoughts.

Hello all from Ohio yet again.

    Welcome, from Central Ohio.

How to keep a flake lit?

Still having problems, but many fewer relights after reading and trying the advice here. I'm still trying to smoke slower, but the biggest factor was I've been packing to much tobacco in the pipe. Packing about 2/3 what I thought was right seems to help immensely. The down side is now I taste...
