Striped bass season has opened here in NY and I was wondering what the brothers here prefer to smoke when on a boat or knee deep in the surf.

the first time i ever saw any one catch anything live on a fly rod was when i was a kid on vacation up at long lake in the adirondack mountains. of course he was a pipe smoker too.

I've been looking at the Missuri Meerschaums and just a question: filter or unfiltered? It seems only the smaller ones are non-filter.

I just joined and I'm looking to get started. With no good/any pipe shops on Long Island I've been searching the internet but I'm still confused about what a good starter pipe would be (probably $20 to $50 say) and the best place to pick one up. Any input is much appreciated.
