    Problem: Loose Stem (New Pipe)

I actually do appreciate the advice, Lesath. I just started smoking a pipe last month so any tips are welcome. I've let it sit overnight and just checked it and it's a little tighter (won't fall out now). I'll try the beeswax method if it's not where I want it to be in a couple more smokes...

    Problem: Loose Stem (New Pipe)

Thanks fellas. I just spent an hour outside smoking it (loose stem and all) and happily it is now tighter if not tight. I suspect a couple more smokes and it'll be just fine. p.s. it's an excellent pipe! It never got hot, just nice and warm. It was 41 degrees out there tonight and I decided...

    Problem: Loose Stem (New Pipe)

I got hold of an unsmoked (new) Dr. Grabow Free Hand from '07 and it looks great, but there's a problem. The stem just comes right out of the shank with no effort at all. You can hold it upside down, shake it a little and the stem will fall out. The stem has a black metal tenon that I think...

    MacArthur Churchwarden Chopped & Plugged

Well, here's another one. I had a MM Patriot with a shank that extended clear across the bottom of the bowl. I figured I could fix that, and of course things got out of hand and it lead to a complete disassembly and rebuild. I drilled out the factory wood plug, removed the shank from the...

    MacArthur Churchwarden Chopped & Plugged

I had a MM MacArthur that had a hole through the bottom of the bowl (that I put there myself) so I thought it was a good candidate for some modifications. I chopped the top with my radial arm saw (that cob is TOUGH), drilled out the bottom of the cob to glue in a hardwood plug right to the...

    Macqueen Pipes

Finally got to break in the Wizard tonight. I smoked two bowls back-to-back of a 50/50 blend of Lane 1Q and MCA. The Wizard is a really excellent pipe. With no finesse, I literally crammed the blend into the bowl and fired it up with no problems. No gurgle or anything. The stem remained...

    New Pipe 9-4-2011

Wow! Those pipes speak to me. I like super-chunky peanut butter and I like that super-chunky pipe on top! The "Goof Ball" is excellent as well.

    Macqueen Pipes

I have the Wizard. I haven't smoked it yet. It looks excellent, but it doesn't ooze quality (the stem in particular). The removable stem isn't made out of one solid piece of wood. I don't know how it's made, but the full length of the side of the stem is a separate inlaid piece. I don't...

    Hello from PA

East side. I see you're across the mountains in Pittsburgh. I'm more towards Philly. Re: pipes... I have a new MacQueen Wizard and an assortment of Dr Grabow pipes which I enjoy. Thanks for the welcome everyone!

    Hello from PA

Hi all. I didn't know anything about pipes last month and now I own 6 of them. They're multiplying! I caught a whiff of pipe tobacco at one of my kid's soccer games and recalled memories from 40 years ago of my Dad smoking, so that's what kicked it off. Nice to meet you!
