    Chewing rope tobacco

    So i was cutting up some Samuel Gawith Brown no. 4 to smoke later, when on a whim i popped one and chewed on it. Turns out it actually tastes pretty damn good and got a nice nic kick. I dont think its for me though, the whole spitting thing is just way too nasty! Anyone else try this?

    In my shopping for pipes ive come across more than a few places where ive read that pipes made in the past smoke better than what is out there today, the number one reason (among many) being that superior briar was available at the time. Im not really convinced as there are so many carvers today...
