Oom Paul vs Hungarian: Bit of a rant.

That escalated quickly. Isn't that what I said? I was making a historical comparison. Why does that make me unsympathetic to oppression?

Oom Paul vs Hungarian: Bit of a rant.

In comparison to WW2, I'd say trivial. Or to the genocide in Rwanda. If you want to read a stomach turning book, I'd suggest "The Rape of Nanking". Or look up the atrocities of Unit 731 in Manchuria. But we need to have a positive attitude and look ahead and not back. I think that's Mark's point.

Oom Paul vs Hungarian: Bit of a rant.

Thanks for a thoughtful "rant" ;) The Romans performed mass genocide and practiced slavery but are thought of as a great civilization. Context matters. I like to think the human race is constantly improving itself; slowly rounding off the rough edges. ISIS is brutal, but it's trivial...

Does anyone else LIKE the P-lip?

I don't mind a P-lip on a System pipe, as a pipe cleaner is useless even with a fishtail. These are somewhat heavy pipes so I don't clench them either.

    Hello and aloha from DFW...

    Welcome for sure!

    My Mixture

Oriental/Virginia blends don't get much love for some reason. I've had a couple of the Grand Orientals and they're a treat.

    Escudo

It's odd. Escudo is terrific tobacco, moderately priced and readily available. So what's your story Esoterica?

Well Brothers, I guess my pipe smoking days are over now

Turn the page and move on. Don't look back: no regrets. I find it a pleasure smoking a pipe but there are other pleasures in life. Never thought I'd give up skiing or bicycling but there you are.

    Shingles

Got mine from the VA. I've heard that the cheapest option is your county health organization. Getting one cuts your risk in half, so it's not a cure-all.

    Establishing a rotation...

I've found tobacco dries out faster after opening one of those rectangular tins. I transfer those to mason jars after opening.

    Any Cord Cutters?

I wouldn't pay $200 either. I have Dish 250 channel and after the introductory year it's $98. Includes the $10 Sports package. Some people switch back and forth between Dish and Direct every 2 years to take advantage of the first year discount. There really isn't any difference between the two.

    Any Cord Cutters?

Apart from the financial aspect, I have a quiet yearning to cut off everything and simplify life. To be more Zen. But the security blanket of live sports, TCM, and news/business channels is powerful. I'm not strong enough to resist. :pale:

Two more to keep me busy

Those would fit nicely in the hand. Very nice!

    A dottle ditty

Don't have this problem much. I do load in the old 3 stage method, so the bottom is very loose to begin with. Maybe that's it? Is there a difference if it's flake or ribbon?

    Bought a pipe today

    Enjoy it!

Simple pleasures and changing palates... Thankfully

Me too, pretty much left the English behind me.

    Colored Stems, yes or no?

There were quite a few in the current P&T magazine, especially the Askwiths. I kinda like the look. I think.

    Knock knock

Good tobacco choices. If you run into problems these are the boys for answers.

    Latakia is like Chinese Food

Maybe mix some latakia with Brown Rope. That would be like Thai food. You eat half a plate and sweat starts pouring down your neck.
