    Haha! Monbla you are definitely rocking it OLD SCHOOL with the steamed towel. I love it. You can't argue with 40+ years of good shaves!

    Junkyard Dawg: maybe that's it. 3 Friars is a VA/PER (right?) and Golden extra is a BUR/VA so neither are straight VA's. Well...to be fair the Gooden Extra was VERY well cellared--like 25 years or so (a sample from a generous buddy). That may have been part of it :)

    I don't own one, but I've read up on them. Usually made of Cordura/ballistic nylon (i.e., bombproof) unless otherwise specified.
