Just thought I'd post a few pictures of the current tobacco crop in the field from Tennessee. In the first one look to the right for the dark green. This will be fire cured using hardwoods and sawdust. I suppose it is likely this dark fired could end up in some pipe blends.

Your pics bring back a lot of memories!! Thanx!! FTRPLT
You bet, glad you and others liked it.
It's part of life around here, and I enjoy seeing the tobacco fields in each season. That field with the red tobacco barn is said by the land owner to be the best crop he's ever seen there. I know the grower, and he grows very good crops. I'll likely get some of this raw leaf at some point plus some dark air cured (one sucker). I like to support and root for American tobacco farmers. I've thought of making pictures around town showing old tobacco warehouses, etc. They were usually made of brick and have cool old painted signs on the brick.

Lovely pics thanks Swede, just awesome to see and that dark fired looks delicious.
It is delicious but stout. Sometimes smoked raw, it hits the back of your throat like a coating. Aging might help that, but I just go slow. I know enough farmers that I can get some to try. I've seen darker, and hope to get a picture of that.

Now that the crop is coming in and firing done, I wanted to show a part of the way of life in tobacco country-the county fair tobacco entries for agricultural products. The less dark tobacco is one sucker. Also, that night was monster truck competition, so here's a pic of my favorite in action. It looked like the body of an old Willys truck and it won.Note the concete barrier sign to the right of the lady's back has a tobacco leaf on it.
