Back in my pro audio days I was always blown away by the musicianship of the touring Cajun bands. Every player is required a virtuoso, but a long tradition of playing notes that only served the song kept everything under control. The result was a locomotive-like wall of sound that never missed a beat or a cue. Those guys are frighteningly good, yet few people out of the music's traditional region even know it exists never mind have heard it.
Zydeco is a different animal. Like Blues it's all about feel. Few virtuosos to be found in its ranks, but that in itself is authentic. It was born on front porches and bars, and stubbornly refuses to abandon its roots.
Both styles will get a room up and dancing faster than anything but Swing/Jump Blues. Great stuff. Thanks for posting.
