That's always been one of my favorite songs but think the man in black does the best version.
A good one to sing along with on about the 4th beer. :drunken:

I first heard Lefty Frizzell do it in the early 60s, my second favorite version. Though that's before your time.

It's always struck me that Johnny Cash could make a song "his." even if it wasn't. Lefty first did this song, the writers, if I recall correctly, were in his band, and wrote it between takes on other songs. But, it's like "Hurt." Who cares who else did it--it's Johnny's song, now.

My wife's rather fond of the song, and last year I put together a CD of all the versions of it that I could track down. I don't recall everything that was on it now
