Guns! Broads! Explosions! Whatever turns ya' on! Ya' know, if you take into consideration the atrocities being committed on a daily basis in the name of a certain religion, this seems like thin gruel indeed, irrelevant to anything at all.* Just my initial personal response to these cartoon-to-film productions, a genre in which I now include the James Bond franchise. I believe my last 007 movie viewed in a theater was Thunderball, which even Sean Connery couldn't carry, in my opinion. I do like the novels, which may explain my deliberate buzz-kill. Hey, maybe it's a great movie. Yawn.

* Edit. Alluding to villainy.

I found the books poorly written and tedious. Not to mention the James Bond portrayed is an unconscious careless blithering idiot who in reality wouldn't last a day. So, I'll stick to the movies. At least they're eye candy.

Egads! What have we here? Bond naysayers? I bow my head in sadness to witness it.

Me? I love Bond...James Bond...the movies. (All but the stupid Roger Moore ones)

I kind of view him as a grown and hardened Peter Pan. Hook the villain...Tink and the lost boys as minions...Wendy the squeeze...a Crock to ultimately nail Hook...mermaids and perhaps an Indian Princess and her tribe here and there...most Bond movies have it all. Serious literature or cinema? Of course not. Fun and games...of course.

The weather, cups of tea, the Royal family, poorly built cars and James Bond; all go to make up a British institution. We even hired James to parachute into the London Olympic Games. Gets my vote!

DC is the most true to how Fleming saw Bond and the only one, by far, to be menacing, audacious, and smart enough to be worthy of the 00 status..........and YES, that includes the Scot!

Connery didn't do much until after Bond.

Casino Royal: B+

Skyfall: A- (I admit it is uneven at times, but when it is firing on all cylinders, it's untouchable.

Spectre: C- (How in the hell did they cock that up and let 2 HUGE opportunities slip through their hands? UGH!)
