hahahahaha! And indeed 1-Q is something else! It is everywhere.., with many different names and disguises..., people may have smoking it under a different moniker and never realized that.
Actually I explored the full gamut of OTC tobaccos available in my time. Captain Black was the last of the lot. Amphora and Clan were the first tobaccos that I actually finished the pouch.., learning more or less how to manage the smoke along the way. I vividly remember Amphora's ready rubbed...
And this is exactly in line with what I read once. Someone pointed out that Captain Black Royal and Lane 1-Q were all but the same thing and bashing CBR while praising 1-Q sounded hypocritical. How it would fare in a blind tasting I wonder...
Hi Jim!!! Great interview!! Brilliant. And.., if I got it right, do you do illustration, drawings? I'm an Illustrator myself. For more that 30 years...
Dear Gents,
I just decided to launch this topic to see what you think about Captain Black blends...And not only what you think about them and any particular blend. I'm fascinated by the passions this tobacco entice! Loathed and loved almost in equal proportions, reviews about them are wildly...
Indeed! You found perfect definition! Rope tobaccos most of times are well outside the common realm of flavour profiles we are used to...Oily, Dark, Creosotish, Sour, spunky..! And they work wonderfully in blends adding that "Je ne sais quoi" that is very intriguing. I love that!
Another interesting rope...
This tobacco "log", wrapped in wood ribbons is a Porronca from Ceará state. Curious tobacco: after sliced or cut in flakes you need to heat it in a pan until retracts a bit and start to turn fragrant.
I just went through the topic posted earlier on about G&H twists and found it very interesting. There are peculiarities about those twists and ours in Brazil. G&H have an outer tobacco leaf wrapping, they're lighter in colour and look like made from a single rope.., I'm not sure.
Ours are made...
Well.., as I told you before...
Do you have anyone that you may know who comes to Brazil in the near future or does business here on a regular basis? This person can have the tobacco delivered to his/her address in Brazil, and afterwards take it to you guys in USA. Cheaper and safer.
Otherwise...
Hello Jim! Thanks for the warm welcome!!!! Cheers! I really may get some corn cob pipes for myself- the country gentleman is a gorgeous smoking machine in its own way!
The tobacco ropes measure some 10 m in length.
I'm sending a video on how it is made...
