    Ever seen a 9mm filter Charatan ?

If you were likely to find one again anywhere, it'd be in Germany. Filter pipes are most popular there, so I'd scour eBay.de and you'll probably come up trumps with another one.

    Internet Tobacco and Pipes

As much as I'd like to support my local B&M store, they just don't have a good selection of pipes at all, so I buy most all of my pipes from Iwan Ries in Chicago. I've been quite happy with their service and the shipping is prompt. I've also bought from 4noggins and El Fumador, both of which...

    What do you drive?

Ahh yes, the XJR is quite a beast. I had a '97, which was the last of the 'R's with the blown inline six from the early Aston DB7. Helluva car, sorry I sold it. Always intended to replace it with a '98-up 'R' with the blown V8 but you may or may not know, the early V8s had timing chain issues...

What do you do for a living

I own MB Classic Sports Car in Cincinnati, Ohio. We are a service and restoration shop which specializes in vintage Ferrari, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz automobiles. I founded the company in 2003 after finishing b-school. Rather than go into banking, my original intent, I decided to take a leap...

    Hardcastle....your experiences?

Al, I purchased it simply because the shape was attractive to me. It was one of those moments of utter PAD attack, as I had initially only chosen a Bjarne Viking from the display case when the Hardcastle caught my eye and I had to have that one too. I guess now that I think about it, I don't...

    Hardcastle....your experiences?

I gave the mouthpiece a quick polish with original Chap Stick, which is what I had on hand, just to try out, and it seemed to bring back the lustre of the vulcanite. Of course, when I smoke it again, we'll see how well it holds up... I took it to the workshop today to smoke throughout the day...

    Xikar lighters.....junk

The lighter seems to work better now that it's been purged, however I'm still not quite pleased with the "power" of the flame it produces, even with it adjusted optimally. I'm going to send it back to them and see if they can sort it out, but meanwhile, wooden matches and my Bic have served just...

    Hardcastle....your experiences?

Hey all, Picked up a Hardcastle prince from Tinder Box last week and wanted to share a few observations.. The best feature of this pipe is the soft vulcanite bit. Much more comfortable than my other vulcanites. I imagine that's due to the higher quality material that Dunhill (correct?) used...

    Xikar lighters.....junk

True that re the GM thing although the Cadillac CTS-V is one helluva car. I drove it back to back against a Mercedes C63 AMG and an Audi S4 and I've got to say the Cad showed them who was boss. And that's hard to admit being that I'm a true blood European car guy! But hey, I'm thrilled that...

    Xikar lighters.....junk

The Old Boy is nice. Looks just like my Xikar. I did try the complete bleed and refill with the Xikar and it seemed to do the trick, at least for now. Either way, it'll be going back to them shortly.

    Xikar lighters.....junk

Anyone else here had trouble with Xikar lighters? I'm on my second one. The first one leaked butane before I even got it out of the store, hence an immediate exchange for the current one I have, which, no matter what the level of butane, no matter how new the flint, won't strike for the life of...

    The best Sherlock Holmes

    +1

Downey's new Holmes is an "action hero"...

My guess is that Hollywood will have ruined Holmes just as they have done to the venerable 007. Sad.
