Since McClelland closed its doors and declined to sell its recipes to another company, I have been pining for Old Dog, which was one of my favorites. Has anyone found an acceptable substitute for this fine blend? Does anyone know of efforts being made to duplicate it?

Well, I bought the pipe. At first, I didn't find the smoke especially great, but having smoked it for a month, I'm really beginning to enjoy it. One prob: the tenon is a bit loose. My tobacconist tells me to smoke it for a few more months, and the tenon-shank wedding should/might fix itself...

Savinelli has posted something on YouTube that says you should light up with Swedish matches. What is so special about them that would inspire this endorsement?

Wooden matches. Never met a lighter I could stand.

As its name implies, Nightcap is great as the last pipe of the day. Early Morning Pipe, however, is a great smoke any time of the day. These are two of my favorites.

I'm looking at a pipe on ebay made in the Ukraine of Ukranian briar. Has anyone had experience with this type of pipe material? We all know to avoid Chinese pipes, but what about these Eastern European ones?

Sasquatch, where did you get this negative info about rosewood pipes? Weber and Herment both endorse them, and I have never heard that they are toxic in any way.

I had a couple of metal pipes some years ago. They smoked hot and wet and were a general pain. I think they got thrown out somewhere along the line, and I have never missed them or wanted to replace them. On the other hand, I never met a corncob I didn't like.

The MMs are considered the best corncob pipes. What does anyone know of the "Cobb" pipe brand?
