FVF because it's plentiful here and I'd be able to trade it for whatever takes my fancy later on. For my own personal use I could live off Old Gowrie for the rest of my life, anything would just be a bonus.

Funnily enough I've been eying up a few tins of Scottish Flake to go in my next order. McConnell's is one of the cheaper brands here in the UK too.

This time of year when it's still cold a tin lasts me 10-14 days. In the summer I usually get through 2 tins a week. As an interesting addendum, I've noticed I seem to stock up steadily during the winter and amass quite a cellar by the middle of spring. Then I spend a couple of months smoking...

I went with option one although I'm biased towards not trying aromatics unless they have a somewhat significant positive following. With regards to non-aros though, I really will smoke anything at least once.

I leave it in the tin once I've opened it. Most flakes stay moist for at least a week or so (and in the case of SG flakes, much longer) so that gives me plenty of time to smoke it before it gets too dry. I only open one tin at a time though so it's highly unlikely I'll have blends open for...
